Meetings in Bergen: Experience the Bergen Børs Hotel

Hotel Director Yngve Hansen sums it up: The historic stock exchange building in Bergen city centre is the perfect location for productive meetings and memorable experiences with colleagues and clients.

– Hi, how are you? How’s the food?

Yngve smiles and pats a guest on the shoulder when he gets confirmation that everything tastes good. In Frescohallen, the lights are dimmed, the jazz music is turned up, and people are toasting with bubbles while enjoying casual conversations across the round tables. The room is full of locals and tourists from far away. Outside, people are hurrying home across cobbled streets and squares.

Yngve surveys the guests and staff with an eagle eye.

"This is what makes Bergen Børs so special. It’s a place where great ideas and business deals come to life. When you share quality experiences, chemistry sparks and commitments are made," says Bergen Børs Hotel Director, Yngve Hansen.

Conference Hotel in Bergen

The Bergen Børs Hotel is located on Vågsallmenningen, right next to the fish market. The hotel is within walking distance of both the light rail (Bybanen) and Bergen Station.

"Business is no longer just about good meeting and conference rooms. It goes without saying that hotels should offer high-quality meeting rooms, but we go beyond that by providing top-notch à la carte restaurants, bars and tailor-made activities – under the same roof – and that makes us unique.

Food and beverages for meetings

Yngve points out that when business travellers check in to the Bergen Børs Hotel, they can enjoy a full day of professional enrichment and quality time with colleagues – whether it’s over breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a night out – without having to leave the hotel.

All meeting rooms have access to coffee and a networking area, and delicious refreshments can be served during breaks. However, Yngve firmly believes that the best encounters happen outside these rooms, over a great meal.

"Let culinary experiences be a part of the conference. Our unique advantage is that once you check in, there’s so much to do that there’s hardly a reason to leave this historic building. You can fill several days with excellent experiences within the hotel walls.”

The Bergen Børs Hotel is home to three distinctive restaurants. There's Frescohallen, which won a "Restaurant & Bar Design Award®" in the Heritage Building category. Its walls are adorned with impressive frescoes by Axel Revold, while floor-to-ceiling windows showcase the Bergen harbour outside. The place is full of life from early breakfast, through late lunch, to gourmet dinner and drinks at the bar in the evening.

Fresquito is a tapas bar for those who enjoy Spanish cuisine, sharing delicacies, and good drinks after creative meetings.

On the third floor, Bare Vin og Matbar has a New York vibe, with a special bar menu and premium wine cellar.

Accommodation for meetings

The Bergen Børs Hotel offers some of Bergen's most luxurious suites and hotel rooms. Room categories range from a standard single room to a 54 m2 suite with a harbour view.

"Meeting and conference participants can get discounted prices," Yngve notes.

"My team and I are available to cater to the needs of business travellers, regardless of group size or requirements, and can arrange meeting packages that include both accommodation and dining experiences.”

Team building and activities

Yngve believes that taking meaningful breaks during business trips is just as important as the conferences themselves.

“I think the key to a productive day of meetings is to disconnect and take the right breaks. And here, we excel at facilitation and personal follow-up. We offer everything from wine tastings and guided tours of Bergen centre, to kayaking in the archipelago, and running with a guide on nearby mountain trails – we facilitate most activities.”

"And how about this setting?" asks Yngve, extending his arms.

He stands in the middle of the room, surrounded by colourful frescoes depicting Bergen's trading, shipping, and business history. Bergen Børs is the city's historic stock exchange building from the 1860s, and having this history as a backdrop makes it special when gathering colleagues, signing important contracts, or hosting yearly kick-offs," Yngve points out.

"In the old days, this is where all the big deals were made!”
